The trial of Richard Duhaney, who is charged with the murder of his decapitated wife was postponed when the case came up for mention in the St. Catherine Circuit Court recently.
He is charged with the murder of his wife, Velma Duhaney, who was 37 at the time of her death, nine years ago.
Duhaney’s bail was then ordered extended until May 2016 by presiding judge Justice Vivienne Graham-Allen.
The defence team of Duhaney, a data technician and of 3 North, Greater Portmore, St Catherine, was informed that other matters have taken precedence over the trial.
The headless body of Mrs Duhaney, a guidance counsellor at Balmagie Primary School in Kingston, was found in bushes at Sligoville, St Catherine, on March 19, 2006.
Court documents reveal that although they had not yet found the head of the victim, the husband identified the headless body of the woman to be that of his wife.
After further investigations, Duhaney was taken into custody on March 23, and arrested and charged on April 10.
The police seized a van with bloodstains driven by Duhaney and DNA blood samples were taken for analysis and are now on file.
