A man who pleaded guilty to dealing in and possession of ganja escaped a trafficking charge because of a lack of evidence when he appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrates’ court earlier this week.

The accused, Milton Spence, pleaded guilty with explanation.

Allegations are that Spence was stopped and searched and two parcels containing vegetable matters was found weighing two pounds.

“I’m guilty with explanation your honour,” Spence added.

“Tell the court your explanation,” RM Maddix responded.

“Your honour I wasn’t selling it, it’s for me personal use,” Spence said.

Rich laughter rolled through the courtroom at his explanation.

“You are brazen and “bare-faced”.  You stand before me and said it’s for your personal use as if its a free for all. So you admitting to smoking ganja?” RM Maddix quizzed.

Spence was fined $6,400 or 30 days for dealing in and 100 hours of community service for possession.
