34 pounds of ganja found at Kingston Wharf

On Tuesday, May 2, 2017 about 2:15pm, eighteen  (18) parcels, each with compressed ganja weighing a total of  34.2 pounds were found in a refrigerated container  at Berth 9, Kingston Wharf Limited.     

On Tuesday, May 2, 2017 about 2:15pm, eighteen  (18) parcels, each with compressed ganja weighing a total of  34.2 pounds were found in a refrigerated container  at Berth 9, Kingston Wharf Limited.     

                                                                                                                                      

Security Officers attached to Security Administration Limited (SAL) were carrying out routine secirity checks in an area on the wharf  which stores  refridgerated containers when irregularities were observed on  a section of a container.

Closer examination revealed a knapsack in with eighteen (18) parcels, each containing compressed ganja with a total weight of 34 lbs.

The Narcotics Detectives were contacted and they the scene, confirmed the find and commenced investigation.

The scene and potential exhibits were processed by personnel from the Scenes of Crime Unit and the drugs handed over at the Narcotics exhibits Stores for safe keeping pending further investigation.

The drugs have an estimated value of JA $170, 000.00.

Investigation is ongoing.
