An argument over the popular Cashpot game almost turned deadly when a chopper was brought into play. The argument eventually led to one woman losing a piece of her left thumb and another receiving wounds to the stomach and face.

Both women, Maureen Pellington and Sophia Tucker, appeared in the cross case, which was presided over by Resident Magistrate Horace Mitchell in the Spanish Town RM Court on March 13, 2015.

Tucker lost a portion of her left thumb, received chops to the hands and received 18 stitches to the back of the head. Pellington received a wound to her stomach and face.

Allegations are that both ladies, who reside in the same community, had an argument over Cashpot and this led to a fight and the stakes were raised when sharp implements were used.

“Your honour, I never chop off her finger is drop she drop on the chopper,” Pellington attempted to explain before being cautioned by RM Mitchell to remain silent because her lawyer was not present.

The case is set to be heard on August 14, 2015.
