Aduka releases ‘Rasta Dawta’ video @one876 @bounce876

Reggae artiste Aduka is generating a buzz with his latest single and video, Rasta Dawta. “The response has been incredible so far to the video. People love the concept of the baldhead man and a Rastafarian woman in love because it shows there are no boundaries to love, even if it is a bit controversial and a bit outside of what people expect,” Aduka said.

Aduka has been steadily building a reputation as an artiste with a penchant for doing conscious, clean songs that tackle a variety of topics. Rasta Dawta is the follow-up single to his successful Inna Jamdown, a song which asks tough questions of the academics, politicians and spiritual leaders regarding the brutal crimes, depravity and social disorder that often afflicts Jamaica.

“The fans are starting to see me as a particular type of artiste, they see and appreciate my vision and my focus on social commentary,” he said.

Rasta Dawta, released on the Full Moon Productions label, is now available on iTunes.

Last week, he did a long interview with veteran broadcaster GT Taylor on IRIE FM where the disc jock quizzed him about the content and origin of his songs and played his three major songs for an eager reggae audience. The songs, Inna Jamdown, Rasta Dawta and Pressure, caught the attention of listeners who flooded the call lines.

Conscious and powerful

Born in Kingston to parents Etlyn Jones and Eustas Newman, Aduka has emerged as one of the most powerful new voices in socially conscious reggae this year.

He released the Rasta Dawta video on YouTube a few weeks ago where it has racked up several hundred views.
