Rastafarian reggae firebrand Capleton reportedly lost his brother, known in the music circles as ‘Gary’, over the weekend. Gary had a long battle with a cancer-related illness.
Capleton did not respond to queries about his brother’s death and his team has said he is grieving
The Fireman has had a number of high profile personal losses in recent years. He lost his mother, Mabel Downer-Forbes, with whom he had a close relationship until her death in May 2020 at the age of 73. In her honor, Capleton released the song “Mama Lives” in August 2020 and has also spoken about the influence she had on his life.
The Prophet also lost his long-time manager, Claudette “Mrs. Kemp” Kemp, who was also a humanitarian and a close personal figure in his life. Ms. Kemp managed Capleton for over 21 years, acting as a “second mother” and friend to him. She passed away in June 2023 at the age of 76 from kidney disease, and Capleton has publicly mourned her loss and honored her legacy
